July 2007 - Climbing and Splashing

Lily has developed an obsession with climbing. She loves to climb onto the couch and drop things behind it. She lets me know with a resounding "Uh Oh." She also loves to climb the stairs and just about anything she can find that is potentially treacherous.

We found a wonderful splash park that we visited with Shana, Paris and Bianca. I didn't expect Lily to like being splashed but she was very enthusiastic about it. She was completely soaked!

June Visit with Zoe and Family

Zoe came to visit and she brought her parents! Lily kept trying to hug her. She would sneak up on her from behind and give her a squeeze. How could she resist? Zoe is so squezzable. Ahh...if only they lived closer to us, life would be perfect.

Happy Birthday Lilyana!

Lily's birthday was May 31, 2007. Here are some photos of the happy day that we spent with Babcia, Oppa and all at their house in Connecticut.

Lily loved opening her presents. She especially loved her kitty cat cake that her Daddy made for her.

These Boots Are Made For Walking

On April 14, Lily started walking! Mike and I had just decided that when she takes 10 or more steps, we could consider her to be a walker. As if she heard us, moments later, Lily walked to the middle of the room. Well over the 10 step threshold. She originally seemed shocked by her own ability but now she just loves it.

We went to Boston Common on Thursday with Liz and Vivian. As you can see, she had fun walking around in the grass, as well as trying to eat it. She even tried to make some new friends. Lily just flashed her 7 teeth at them and they were smitten.

She so enjoys her new power and freedom that it has gone to her head. I even caught her trying to get the keys to the car from my purse. We'll have to keep an eye on her from now on.

April

April was a very big month for Lily. When she was not goofing around with Nana or riding around in her fabulous Pampers box, which corners like a dream, she was practicing her new skill. Walking!

I'm the Piano Man

Lily is crazy about this musical table. At first, she could only stand at it while clutching the Tuba in a white-knuckled death grip. Then she started cruising around it. Wheweee! She loved most to flip the page on the center of the table. It turns out that she is crazy about books! All we have to do is say "Hey" or "Sometimes I Like to Curl Up In A Ball" or "Maisy Drives the Train" and she will drop whatever she is doing to find THAT book.

She also likes to stand on the couch and heckle the neighbors out the window. Every morning she stands there and waves goodbye to Daddy as he goes off to work.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Actually, I do have a few more photos that are important to see if you want the full story of 2006. Of course, there was Christmas which was very merry. Lily was very good at tearing the wrapping paper off the presents. As it turns out, she doesn't really need toys at all, just a magazine or two to shred or the lid to her baby food cntainer to chew on.
There she is in her pack and play. She had pulled herself up without any help at all! It must have been her kitty cat costume giving her superhero strength. By the way, she no longer likes to be in her pack and play at all, now that she can crawl around the house. She changes so quickly, maybe next week she will like it again.
Mike was very sick with the Norwalk Virus in this picture. It was the end of the plague that struck our entire family starting on Christmas day. The winter of 2006 was a winter of unrelenting sickness. We blame it all on daycare.
Finally, we have Lily, letting us know that 2007 is great and we should just jump in.

Time Travel - Part 2

Here we have Lilyana in green velvet at her second Thanksgiving dinner which was hosted by Renee, Scott, and Caitlyn. Up next is Lily with Daddy on the plane ride home. In the next photo, we find Lily feasting on Zoe's shoe and Zoe recoiling in shock.
In December, Lily and Daddy were horsing around. Lily loves to be flipped upside down!
Finally, we conclude our tour of 2006 with a photo of Lilyana hard at work at the Graybiel Lab.
Thank you for joining us on our lovely trip down memory lane.

Time Travel - Part 1

Let's go back in time to see how much Lily has changed over the months that I have neglected this blog. We'll start with one photo from September. Wow, I can barely remember what I did yesterday but I do remember this day. We went out to the Lake in Sturbridge with Mike's mom, Maria. Lily was so tiny then.
Next, we have a goofy photo from October. The photo of her in yellow is of her waking up with her first tooth, also in October.
Here, we find Lilyana poised, politely awaiting her meal in her high chair, in November. Then, we have a multigeneration photo of Lily, myself and Bigmamma during our Thanksgiving visit to North Carolina.

Baby vs. Baby

The Valentines came to visit. Zoe is just as cute as Lilyana. They are so different though they are almost the same age. Their personalities have already begun to show themselves. Zoe is contemplative. Lily is vocal. I wonder how they will change over time.

The Daytrippers

The heat has finally let up so we went out to the park. Lily really loved it. This morning we woke up and it was cool out! I can't wait to show Lily how beautiful the world can be when you're not trying to avoid the scalding sun.

Busy Day!

She has been making purposeful sounds for at least a week now but today, she replied to me with a sound! Then she laughed at herself. She kept doing it! I made her sound back at her and she replied again. I know every baby does it but it is amazing to me. Also, she really noticed her feet today. She studied them like she does my face. My little girl is growing up.

Expression

Lilyana is incredibly expressive. Sometimes, through eye contact, I feel as if we have had deep communication. She coos sometimes and makes other communicative sounds. I feel as if we understand one another. Several times, I have been surprised when she then "acts like a baby" and fusses or cries. As if I had forgotten how young she really is now.

I'll post photos later. For some reason, blogspot won't post photos for me now.
